Discovery 0f bone cells
The Fascinating Story of How Bone Cells Were Discovered.
In 1868, a German anatomist named Friedrich Tiedemann was
studying a section of a human femur under a microscope. He observed small, dark
spheres in the bone marrow and asked his assistant to look at them. The
assistant announced that they were cells.
Tiedemann wasn’t sure if he believed him, so he repeated the
experiment himself. And that’s how bone cells were discovered. In 1868, a group
of scientists was studying the cells in a rat’s bone. They were trying to
figure out how the cells functioned and what they did. This was a new and
unexplored area of science at the time. The scientists used a microscope to
look at the cells and took notes on their findings.
They observed that the cells in the bone were constantly
changing. They grew and divided, and then died off. The scientists also noticed
that the cells were arranged in a specific pattern. This pattern was repeated
over and over in the bone.
